Grand Marais (grand muh-ray) is located in the Arrowhead region of northeastern Minnesota on scenic Highway 61, about two hours north of Duluth, Minnesota on the shore of Lake Superior. The journey along the North Shore is a beautiful and includes numerous rocky points and stunning vistas.

North House Folk School's campus sits on the Grand Marais harbor.  It can be easily located at the intersection of Highway 61 the Old Gunflint Trail (or 5th Avenue West).  The entrance to the campus is on the lake-side of the road, immediately adjacent to yellow & blue North House sign.  Students and visitors are encouraged to check in at the school office/store in the "blue building" as they arrive.
